I have been reflecting on the loving relationship with my dog Bailey. She recently passed, and so I think about her every day. My husband and I discussed what she used to do and how much we miss her.
I’ve been reflecting on one thing that sticks out for me- that she was loyal and loved us unconditionally. Now, if you have a pet, and you know what I mean, they are part of your family. I have to say, for us, she was like a third child and kept us caring for her until her last day. Her unconditional love for us made me aware of something I sometimes ignore: God's infinite and deep love.
1 John 4:16
GOD IS LOVE. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in Him
God’s Unconditional Love
One day, I began to think about the unconditional love that God shows us, even when we turn our backs on Him. We can get busy, be mad at Him, ignore Him, push Him away, and not put Him in the center of our lives. We can blame Him for our suffering, ask why He isn’t listening, and wonder where He is. With all our might, we can quickly push Him aside and go on with our lives, but through it all, He still loves us and will continue to come to us to win us to Himself again and again. God’s unconditional love pours out even when we turn from Him.
I often think about how much God gets ignored and how life seems to get in the way of seeing all He blesses us with daily. From a sunset to a child, constant reminders of His presence get ignored. Many will say it is nature, and that is the gift. But God created all of this and continues to show Himself to a world that ignores His grace. Have you ever considered the many “close calls” you have had? God’s loving hand led you through many life storms, bringing you to a new destination.
Psalm 86:15
But you, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God,
slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.
God never gives up on us no matter what we are doing or how far away from Him we go; He will pursue us all of our lives to get our attention through people or situations. God will continue to love you when you turn your back on Him and draw you closer to Himself. Why not meet God in a secret place?
I want to send you this today to remind you that God’s love is infinite; it never ends, and we only need to stop and reflect on His goodness and kindness. Won’t you take a moment to thank Him for all He has done for you?
Shalom
Nancy
